Carlingford Lough Heritage Trust was formed in 1990, it’s mission statement is…

“To identify, maintain and restore the medieval core of Carlingford”.

Carlingford Heritage Centre is the flagship of the Trust. The aim of the Heritage Centre is to give the visitor an insight into Carlingford’s history and to encourage a deeper exploration of the narrow streets and antiquities of this charming place.

Local guides will introduce you to King John’s Castle, The Mint, Taaffe’s Castle, The Tholsel, The Dominican Friary… Tours can be booked through the Carlingford Tourist Office Tel: 042 9373033

View the history of Carlingford in the triptychs from the coming of the Vikings in 832 through the Norman period up to the present. These triptychs can be closed allowing the building to return to a place of assembly

Carlingford Lough Heritage Trust has produced a book and map which together provide an indispensable guide to this historic town and region. The latest publication is an Atlas of Carlingford produced in association with the Royal Irish Academy.

The Trust’s publications are available to purchase at The Heritage Centre and at The Carlingford Tourist Office.
